Speaking of sound, I remember about a month ago there was discussion of support for ESS controllers, but (as I recall) not a resolution. I have a Compaq Presario 1800 laptop with 4.0-S and an ESS SOLO-1 (1969) controller, which shows up in dmesg as pci0: <unknown card> (vendor=0x125d, dev=0x1969) at 17.0 irq 5 I tried every combination of options I could think of to convince the kernel that it was a SoundBlaster, but to no avail. Any chance of support anytime soon? Except for this, totally non-functional APM, and no Winmodem support, it actually runs quite well on my machine (alongside Windoze and BeOS). thanks, Ray To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-stable" in the body of the message
