Ok, so that didn't work so well.  I've posted a respon to Takahashi
Yoshihiro suggesting a couple of possible paths, none of which should be
attempted before 4.3-RELEASE: divergent MAKEDEV's for pc98 and i386, and
fixing AD to meet their needs.  I guess I fell for the constant
bombardment of "AD is perfect, we will all use AD" -- apparently that
didn't take PC98 into account.  In any case, an interesting exercise, and
one we should attempt to address in the post-release scenario.
