While native apps are desirable, I think that we should retain the
perspective to leverage our Linux emulation as a backup strategy: if a
company doesn't want to commit to a FreeBSD native version, we need to
encourage them to confirm their app runs with the emulator (an example of
what happens when this goes awry is StarOffice 5).
Given that several people have observed better performance of Linux apps
running on FreeBSD emulation, than on Linux on identical/same hardware, I
don't see this as a major limitation, provided the app doesn't use
facilities we can't or don't yet emulate.
As an example for leveraging the emulation, although its a bit early yet
for people to have fully exercised the new release, is WordPerfect with
early indications that it works very well provided the linux library
package is the most recent release.
