Hi there, XFree86 doesn't work on my computer. I have a fairly new ATI Mach64 2M DRAM card. Basically, the 3.1.2 probes well except the card type. (see the following messages) Mine is a PCI card. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- XFree86 Version 3.1.2 / X Window System (protocol Version 11, revision 0, vendor release 6001) (... messages deleted) (--) Mach64: card type: EISA (... messages deleted) xinit: Resource temporarily unavailable (errno 35): unexpected signal 1 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The screen goes blank, but Ctrl+Alt+Del still works. I tried 3.1.2B. It doesn't go as far as 3.1.2. But it seems to get the card type right. It aborts and doesn't go to graphic mode. The system is ok. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- XFree86 Version 3.1.2B / X Window System (protocol Version 11, revision 0, vendor release 6001) Release Date: Dec 28 1995 (... messages deleted) (--) Mach64: PCI: Mach64 CT rev 9, Aperture @ 0xf0000000, Block I/O @ 0x6000 *** None of the configured devices were detected.*** Fatal server error: no screens found X connection to :0.0 broken (explicit kill or server shutdown). -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm wondering if anyone can help me on this. Or Is my card too new to be supported? Thank you. Eugene Liu
