It's time to bring out the checkbook and do some upgrading. I looked in the computer shopper, and there's some good deals on Fujitsu drives, so I though I might pick up a 2 G model. I know they carry a 5 year warranty, I was wondering if anyone knows anthing too negative about them? Like, do they tend to run hot or have a bad infant failure rate, or anything? It's also time to upgrade one of my two 486's to a Pentium. I've heard reams about some motherboards that use external cache poorly, or don't really take advantage of ED0 ram. Does anyone have a positive recommendation on a board that doesn't have any problems (so far) ? I figure I'm going to have to buy some new ram, so I'm not worried about compatibility with the 70 NS stuff from the 486 boards. I'll just take the memory from the 486 that's going out of service, and load the other one up. Thanks for the comments, I always wait until I'm really ready to write the check before I ask the questions. ========================================================================== Chuck Robey chuckr@eng.umd.edu, I run FreeBSD-current on n3lxx + Journey2 Three Accounts for the Super-users in the sky, Seven for the Operators in their halls of fame, Nine for Ordinary Users doomed to crie, One for the Illegal Cracker with his evil game In the Domains of Internet where the data lie.
