FWIW, my motherboard is a > Titanium I P51430TX which supports a pnp OS. Having messed with it all myself try these suggestions: MAKEDEV pnp0 will fail because it doesn't need an entry in /dev Also, don't go with snd0 and its devices as it well get phased out as one of the `senior' members of the list was able to tell me. Look at LINT for pcm0 and then look in /usr/src/sys/i386/isa/snd/ at README and CARDS. Although ye didn't say which version of FreeBSD I am guessing either 2.2.7 or 3.0.
