I have been using the same PS1 on multiple platforms and with multiple Bourne-like shells for many years; one of them must have been lacking this feature.) Looking at the console output for your third computer, above, my previous comment regarding small OS devices also applies to this computer. I never saw a response to my question regarding backups (?). David
