I like being able to exit X11 to the > command line easily, A lot of people like eye candy.. :-) My grandparents won't understand how to work in console, so I will wanting them to use GDM for not have them to call to me everyday or even hour. :-P I personal don't like GDM because of lacking feature to bring me to console. I had to go to another tty. I have started to use GDM ever since when GNOME depends on GDM more like for shutdown, restart and etc that provide GNOME desktop functions better. > and GDM always has caused me problems.
