However, if you suspect gtk20, did you > downgrade it to 2.4.9_1 while keeping eel2 and nautilus2 at 2.8.1? I finished downgraded gtk20 to 2.4.9_1 and it solved the redraw/repaint problem. But, wait let me rebuild/reinstall 2.4.11 without shadow support.
