You can redirect ftp requests with the socket(1) program (*). Replace the ftp entry in xoom.com:/etc/inetd.conf with socket. E.g. ftp stream tcp nowait nobody /usr/local/bin/socket socket ftp.xoom.com ftp and restart inetd: killall -HUP inetd (*) socket is must-have software ;-) See ports/sysutils/socket.
