And it is not as if it actually costs you much more than a bit of swap space:

Admittedly, I was bitten by the change when it happened. That I
was bitten was my own fault.  I do read the commit logs, but the
significance of feeding the monster didn't hit me.  I later blithly
merged away, rebooted and thought "Oops, take more care next time, don't
simultaneously upgrade three machines in a hurry".

I would like to make a small plea for facts always in the logs, but
still retaining the occasional bit of humour.
