You might have something wrong with your httpd.conf After you install Apache you have to specify such things as the DocumentRoot IF you haven't done that or the current DocumentRoot points to /nothing then it will cause an error message. If you don't show a error message have you looked in /var/log/ for a http.log(or something simlar)?
