You can get FreeBSD free via anonymous FTP from ftp://ftp.FreeBSD.org/pub/FreeBSD. You might also want to check a geographically close mirror site. BUT, it's a B-I-G download, 620 Mb if you download an ISO image and one sees reports of overnight installations if you install by FTP.
