Hi, We're running into this strange problem where our /home gets lost once in a while. It just stops working, just like it has disconnected itself. Even a reboot of the system does no do the job of getting the disk back. No, the disk has to be power-cycled, and then the system needs to reboot. This happens every once in a while, and way to often for our purpose. Does anybody have similar problems or knows what to do about it. Our config is at the end, but major elements: FreeBSD 2.0.5 P90 Asus SP54P4 64Mb + 256Kb cache NCR 810 Micropolis 3243 Thanx, Willem Jan Withagen FreeBSD 2.0.5-RELEASE #1: Tue Apr 2 09:59:31 MET DST 1996 graaf@hades.IAEhv.nl:/usr/src/sys/compile/IAEHV CPU: 90-MHz Pentium 735\\90 (Pentium-class CPU) Origin = "GenuineIntel" Id = 0x525 Stepping=5 Features=0x1bf<FPU,VME,PSE,MCE,CX8,APIC> real memory = 66715648 (16288 pages) avail memory = 64204800 (15675 pages) Probing for devices on the ISA bus: sc0 at 0x60-0x6f irq 1 on motherboard sc0: VGA color <16 virtual consoles, flags=0x0> ed0 at 0x280-0x29f irq 5 maddr 0xd8000 msize 16384 on isa ed0: address 00:00:c0:29:31:a5, type WD8013EPC (16 bit) bpf: ed0 attached sio0 at 0x3f8-0x3ff irq 4 on isa sio0: type 16550A sio1 at 0x2f8-0x2ff irq 3 on isa sio1: type 16550A lpt0 at 0x278-0x27f on isa fdc0 at 0x3f0-0x3f7 irq 6 drq 2 on isa fdc0: NEC 72065B fd0: 1.44MB 3.5in npx0 on motherboard npx0: INT 16 interface Probing for devices on the pci0 bus: configuration mode 1 allows 32 devices. pci0:0: vendor=0x1039, device=0x406, class=multimedia [not supported] map(10): mem32(80000010) map(14): mem64(80000010) map(18): mem32(80000018) map(1c): mem64(80000018) map(20): mem32(80000020) map(24): mem64(80000020) pci0:1: vendor=0x1039, device=0x8, class=old [not supported] ncr0 <ncr 53c810 scsi> rev 2 int a irq 10 on pci0:12 reg20: virtual=0xf60fc000 physical=0xfbfff000 size=0x100 ncr0: restart (scsi reset). ncr0 scanning for targets 0..6 (V2 pl21 95/03/21) (ncr0:0:0): "CONNER CFP1060S 1.05GB 2135" type 0 fixed SCSI 2 sd0(ncr0:0:0): Direct-Access sd0(ncr0:0:0): FAST SCSI-2 100ns (10 Mb/sec) offset 8. 1013MB (2074880 512 byte sectors) sd0(ncr0:0:0): with 2756 cyls, 8 heads, and an average 94 sectors/track (ncr0:1:0): "MICROP 2217-15MQ1001901 HQ30" type 0 fixed SCSI 2 sd1(ncr0:1:0): Direct-Access sd1(ncr0:1:0): FAST SCSI-2 100ns (10 Mb/sec) offset 8. 1685MB (3450902 512 byte sectors) sd1(ncr0:1:0): with 2372 cyls, 15 heads, and an average 96 sectors/track (ncr0:3:0): "MICROP 2217-15MQ1001901 HQ30" type 0 fixed SCSI 2 sd2(ncr0:3:0): Direct-Access sd2(ncr0:3:0): FAST SCSI-2 100ns (10 Mb/sec) offset 8. 1685MB (3450902 512 byte sectors) sd2(ncr0:3:0): with 2372 cyls, 15 heads, and an average 96 sectors/track (ncr0:4:0): "MICROP 3243-19MZ Q4D HT02" type 0 fixed SCSI 2 sd3(ncr0:4:0): Direct-Access sd3(ncr0:4:0): FAST SCSI-2 100ns (10 Mb/sec) offset 8. 4095MB (8388315 512 byte sectors) sd3(ncr0:4:0): with 3956 cyls, 19 heads, and an average 111 sectors/track pci0:13: vendor=0x1095, device=0x640, class=storage [not supported] pci0: uses 256 bytes of memory from fbfff000 upto fbfff0ff. pci0: uses 256 bytes of I/O space from e800 upto e8ff. bpf: lo0 attached -- Internet Access Eindhoven BV., voice: +31-40-2438330, data: +31-40-2439436 P.O. 928, 5600 AX Eindhoven, The Netherlands Full Internet connectivity for only fl 12.95 a month.
