Whether you call it "pet" or "employee", you are talking the same
net effect: he will have a small amount of discretionary time, if
any, and any project undertaken for a free UNIX clone on his bosses
say-so will be done in the context of a cost/benefit analysis, and
not because he likes FreeBSD.

I understand where you are coming from, but playing the hardline is
only a valid strategy when you and the person you are playing with
are operating from the same philosophical basis.
