If you're interested (at all) in the applications to which FreeBSD systems
are being put, have a look around http://www.irf.se/mst/EsrangeMST.html.

The radar system itself is run by a FreeBSD box, with another acting
as the control console. Data analysis is performed on the radar
controller; it's currently generating and processing about 700MB of
data per day. The 'what the radar is seeing now' plot is generated
offsite using IRF's code and ghostscript on some other system, but
derived fom the analysed data. All the other plots are from our suite
running under IDL on the BSD box.

The horrible vertical noise bands in the data are a hardware glitch in the
radar chassis. Not my fault 8)
