FreeBSD contains all the elements to serve as an integral part of a firewall solution, including packet filtering (tightly integrated into the kernel), network address translation capabilities, and the wide availability of many proxy servers for various services. In addition, there are both free and commercial firewall "toolkits" available, which offer many tools which can be used in the construction of a firewall-type solution.
