Leo,

Assuming you only have the one RS232 interface on the TA (what sort of
speed are you running your com port at?), then the bringing up of the
second channel will be the TA (modem - whatever) responding to load. This
should definitely be an option on the TA. Look for MPPP, Multilink,
Bonding or similar. I have a 3com I can try and find the relevant command
or S reg for if you like. Not sure if the spirit will be even close.

You can bet that the charges for the second B channel will hurt if you
don't stop them - or get a 2 channel XSPC or Xpress (from experience).

There is also a bit of an Australian ISDN mailing list going at the moment,
with people form Linux & FreeBSD camps. Let me know if you are interested
and I'll try and dig out the address.

Rgs

Kevin.

yeah, i already did disable ip header compression....... no diff

another thing on the subject....... we have only leased 64k but
occasionally the system dials out again resulting in a 128k line......
however cute this may be it means we will attract charges we don't
want....... any ideas on disabling this? either in freebsd or the spirit
voyager...... i've already looked at the modems config software and
manual..... i can't see anything obvious...... suggestions
appreciated......
thanks
