I made my upgrade from 3.0-RELEASE -> 3.1-RELEASE using the 3.1 floppies
and the option UPGRADE in sysinstall No problems! I've NEVER had any
problems using the right floppies and the upgrade choice, except from my
home box, which had a lot of installs not made from the ports.
