I don't necessarily agree that the previous behavior was wrong, but
I'm willing to bet that a lot of programs don't bother to check for
that condition, and [ECONNABORTED] is a Standard-sanctioned error
return for this case.

(I'd prefer an interface which allowed the caller to find out the
address of the peer who allegedly aborted, but that's not possible.)
