I just did this. I recommend http://cvsbook.red-bean.com/cvsbook.html as a good resource for CVS. Checkout the section on The Password-Authenticating server: http://cvsbook.red-bean.com/cvsbook.html#The_Password-Authenticating_Server for help on setting up cvs pserver.
