Are your speakers plugged into the soundcard correctly?  Are they getting=20
power?  Do you have the volume turned up?  Did you remove any headphones fr=
om=20
them?

With XMMS, do you have ESD set as your sound daemon (eSound Output Plugin i=
n=20
the Preferences), and is it [ESD] running? =20

If you're running KDE, you may need to run 'artsdsp xmms' for the output to=
 be=20
piped through aRtsd rather than ESD (though it'd be simpler to use noatun i=
f=20
KDE is your  desktop).
