Pos1 == Home on German keyboards.

Also confirmed with an xterm (FBSD 5.2.1).

@ OP: Do you set the right keyboard type? I have the following in
/etc/X11/XF86Config

    Option "XkbRules"   "xfree86"
    Option "XkbModel"   "pc105"
    Option "XkbLayout"  "de"
    Option "XkbVariant"  "nodeadkeys"
