Purchased a new Inspiron 530 desktop from Dell. Tried to install FBSD7-REL on it and failed @ booting off the CD into the installer. Changed bios to access SATA in RAID mode which enabled them to be AHCI devices and was able to boot and do a network install. Once installed I rebooted and the box blew up (kernel panics all over) after printing: acpi0: <DELL FX09 > on motherboard I left it for awhile and came back and magically it was booted. I suspect however that the system is not sable and needs some investigation/ fixes thus I am contacting you. Disabling ACPI does not fix the problem in fact it presents me with a missing root disk. sweetmonkeylovin# sysctl hw.acpi hw.acpi.supported_sleep_state: S3 S4 S5 hw.acpi.power_button_state: S5 hw.acpi.sleep_button_state: S3 hw.acpi.lid_switch_state: NONE hw.acpi.standby_state: S1 hw.acpi.suspend_state: S3 hw.acpi.sleep_delay: 1 hw.acpi.s4bios: 0 hw.acpi.verbose: 0 hw.acpi.disable_on_reboot: 0 hw.acpi.handle_reboot: 0 hw.acpi.cpu.cx_lowest: C1 hw.acpi.thermal.min_runtime: 0 hw.acpi.thermal.polling_rate: 10 hw.acpi.thermal.user_override: 0 hw.acpi.thermal.tz0.temperature: 40.0C hw.acpi.thermal.tz0.active: -1 hw.acpi.thermal.tz0.passive_cooling: 1 hw.acpi.thermal.tz0.thermal_flags: 0 hw.acpi.thermal.tz0._PSV: 50.0C hw.acpi.thermal.tz0._HOT: -1 hw.acpi.thermal.tz0._CRT: 120.0C hw.acpi.thermal.tz0._ACx: 50.0C -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 Dmesg: http://bsd-unix.net/seitz/530/dmesg.boot ASL: http://bsd-unix.net/seitz/530/foo.asl Any help would be appreciated! -- Bryan G.
