Greeting-

I am using this as my base Pi image:

http://www.raspberrypi.org/archives/3094

I have no problem with scp, but be warned that the current head has a
new bug that will cause your Pi to maybe not mount root, so do not try
to build a new kernel from head.

I have used scp against with the kernel in that image. I also have
done a portsnap and built several ports.

Maybe Gonzo will drop the change he made to the speed of initial sd
card probe and revert to 400Khz, then you should be able to build a
custom kernel with no problem.

I hope this helps.
