I have the same v12 FreeBSD and I just built it from games/xpat2 without a problem. There are multiple options to building xpat2 like using Motif vice Xaw etc. I prefer the Motif version. There is a tmpl file in the src directory where you can modify things then run xmkmf to generate the new Makefile and build it to your taste. --
