Thanks for the response, Adam.  But this is more than just a matter of
semantics:  what is "the message that was sent to (me) when (I) subscribed to
this list?"  I guess I subscribed when BSD 2.1.5 was released, but I don't
think that is what you meant.  I guess I need the guidelines.
