Thanks but this helped for avoiding the use of PREFIX=/usr/localports but 
it didn't help for the header files. I tried it with the pine4 port and it 
still looked under /usr/local/include. this is the part where it looked 
under /usr/local/include:
cc -O -pipe   -DDEBUG    -DBSDI -DSYSTYPE=\"BSF\" -DMOUSE 
-I/usr/local/include -c addrbook.c
