Subject: How to do a secure/minimal installation of FreeBSD?

I've installed FreeBSD-PC98 4.2 on my laptop so that I can configure it as a
firewall with NAT for my home network. After much frustration (much of it do
to pccard stuff) I was able to set up a basic firewall.

Now I would like to do the installation again so as to make the laptop more
secure, have a smaller kernel, and take up less HD space.

How can I install only the minimum services needed for me to run my firewall
with NAT?

I know this simple question probably has a not so simple answer. But I've
only been introduced to FreeBSD three days ago so any hlep would be
appreciated!
