"The BCM4401KFB is pin-to-pin and software compatible with the
BCM5702 32-bit PCI Gigabit Ethernet Controller" (from the product
glossy).

Now, I'm guessing that 'software compatible' means that it
has a different PHY, and that a driver could be written to use
both.
