I have created an rc.local file that calls .../xdm, so now my machine brings
up a graphical login screen on boot. The problem is, I am unable to type in
a username or password. I don't know what's going on. Is there any way to
get around this? I mean how do I boot into a non-graphical login prompt, or
cancel xdm when it comes up? I can't type anything into the console window
either.

Thanks,

Chris.
