We have been experiencing a similar issue with Samsung 951.

They worked fine with Linux Distros, but caused random kernel panics with
FreeBSD 11.0-RELEASE.

Upgrading to 11.1-RELEASE seemed to fix the issue for us.

In our case, it seems the cause was the somehow buggy NMVe driver.
