And just because a new version is officially released doesn't mean that you need to update to it then. Also security updates don't all deal with kernel. And some kernel security issues may be for some kernel code/features that aren't even used. Maybe every five or six months to one year is closer (and broad) estimate for needed reboots. Jeremy C.
