Thanks to all who replied. I was rather surprised to step into a hole like that, but the "save" was all that I could have asked for. I have two suggestions, FWIW: * When a major change "C" needs specific documentation "D", try to install D in advance of C and make sure it's there before going ahead with C... * The pkg_add man page suggests that users inspect the contents and scripts in the package. Some users may find this a bit difficult to do, as several of the names start with '+' (making the names look like flags to more(1) and vi(1)). I'm not sure what the fix should be, as the naming convention is probably wired into pkg_add at some low level. Perhaps a note in the pkg_add man page, as: Because some of the file names start with a plus sign (+), you may need to use the "--" flag to view them (e.g., "more -- +COMMENT"). -r -- -- http://www.cfcl.com/rdm email: rdm@cfcl.com phone: +1 650-873-7841 To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-ports" in the body of the message
