	We've talked about this issue before on this mailing list, and 
certain people requested that this discussion be moved to the -ports 
mailing list.


	The summary is that the ports system doesn't have any branches 
(so therefore it naturally tracks -STABLE), and if you want to cvsup 
the ports system without updating the underlying OS on the machine, 
you need to be aware that there are extra things you need to do in 
order to avoid screwing the pooch.
