Sounds less work, but the Diffs to the Release is about 272K gzipped.
I wouldn't like to audit this additional Code.

Most of the changes we need is in the makefiles.
And those are very clean ... MAN => MAN1, pathnames ...
A total of 14K.

It was not that much work to merge the patches from OpenSSH 2.2.0
to 2.9, despite they moved a lot of code and added sftp.

I vote for maintain the basic OpenSSH port.
