This is the second post.[1] I just installed FreeBSD 4.3 on a machine that had been running 3.4. I have been getting this message repeatedly: <date> getty[<pid>]: login_tty /dev/console : Operation not supported After a few those, there is another message saying that getty is going to sleep for 30 seconds. When that time lapses, the screen again fills with the messages. Because of the messages, I can't really get a look at the system. I've no clue why this problem exists. The only unusual part of the install was that I didn't configure an IP address. [1] The first time I sent this (from the same laptop), my address was obtained from a DHCP server/DNS server which had since gone down. Because the list maintening software couldn't look up the address in DNS the message has been delayed. Now I am sending while on another network. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Edward Lewis NAI Labs Phone: +1 443-259-2352 Email: lewis@tislabs.com You fly too often when ... the airport taxi is on speed-dial.
