Well a bit more fussing around with the board (changing the external cache to write through) seems to have stabilized things a bit. Before doing this I was getting random panics with an error msg of "I/O channel check, likely hardware failure" followed by a lockup. Still clocking at 25Mhz, I'm afraid to try 33Meg. Thanks to those who wrote to explain that a DX4 triples the clock, why don't they just call the blasted thing a DX3 ? :-) Before setting cache to write through I could crash the board on a iozone 20 every time. Now I can run iozone with any file size with no problems. Anyone got any thoughts on whether this board is broken or just plain not capable of handeling a DX4 at full speed ? It came in Sat and of course MDCs tech support doesn't work on Sat :-) I've been fiddeling ever since.
