I think I have the same card and I believe you still need to use the audio/aureal-kmod port. I did NOT add the "device pcm" to my kernel config. Just installed the port. I'm not sure if this matters. The home-page for the port is http://home.columbus.rr.com/amatey/au88x0/ I had no troubles... good luck.
