Well, I cvsup'ed the -STABLE branch, and my MA401RA still will not operate properly. I'm willing to give a hand in identifying what's wrong, but I'm at a bit of a loss as to where to start... Here's the relevant information (the parts that look odd are the NIC serial number, the current BSSID, and perhaps the media?) /etc/start_if.wi0 ================= #!/bin/sh # set up NetGear card for use at home /sbin/ifconfig wi0 inet 192.168.127.41 netmask 0xffffff00 authmode shared ssid ZapWiFiLink wepkey 1:0xaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa wepmode on weptxkey 1 stationname Portege channel 10 -powersave ifconfig wi0 ============ wi0: flags=8843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 inet6 fe80::230:abff:fe1a:446%wi0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x6 inet 192.168.127.41 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 192.168.127.255 ether 00:30:ab:1a:04:46 media: IEEE 802.11 Wireless Ethernet autoselect (DS/2Mbps) status: no carrier ssid ZapWiFiLink 1:ZapWiFiLink stationname Portege channel 1 authmode SHARED powersavemode OFF powersavesleep 100 wepmode MIXED weptxkey 1 wepkey 1:128-bit wicontrol wi0 ============= NIC serial number: [ 99SA01000000 ] Station name: [ Portege ] SSID for IBSS creation: [ ZapWiFiLink ] Current netname (SSID): [ ZapWiFiLink ] Desired netname (SSID): [ ZapWiFiLink ] Current BSSID: [ 44:44:44:44:44:44 ] Channel list: [ 8191 ] IBSS channel: [ 10 ] Current channel: [ 13 ] Comms quality/signal/noise: [ 0 81 27 ] Promiscuous mode: [ Off ] Process 802.11b Frame: [ Off ] Intersil-Prism2 based card: [ 1 ] Port type (1=BSS, 3=ad-hoc): [ 1 ] MAC address: [ 00:30:ab:1a:04:46 ] TX rate (selection): [ 3 ] TX rate (actual speed): [ 2 ] RTS/CTS handshake threshold: [ 2347 ] Create IBSS: [ Off ] Access point density: [ 1 ] Power Mgmt (1=on, 0=off): [ 0 ] Max sleep time: [ 100 ] WEP encryption: [ On ] TX encryption key: [ 1 ] Encryption keys: [ 0xaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa ][ ][ ][ ] Denis, fortin@acm.org ----- Original Message ----- From: "Adrian Wontroba" <aw1@stade.co.uk> To: "Michael W.
