Full Details: http://www.osw.ca/ On 2003 January 25 and 26, a coalition of computer professionals, students, and volunteers will host an Open Source Weekend in Ottawa, Canada. The events will be spread across the city and throughout the weekend to showcase the dynamic world of open source software. The major activities will be the: * Linuxfest at the University of Ottawa (Sat. Jan. 25th) * Linuxfest at Carleton University (Sat. Jan. 25th) * The Business of Open Source Software conference. (Sun. Jan. 26th) The events are all open to the public, and everyone is encouraged to attend. Bring your friends, family, and co-workers too! BOSS is a forum for the presentation and discussion of the exploding use of open source software in the world of business. Office Environment Demonstration: The day will begin with a demonstration of a working, networked office environment using the Linux operating system and some of its most successful software, such as the Apache webserver, and the OpenOffice.org office suite. It will also show Linux in a mixed computing environment with other operating systems. This will be a hands-on activity. Keynote Speaker: The afternoon brings the conference proper. Our special guest will be: * Martin Fink, General Manager for Hewlett-Packard's Linux Systems Division, and author of "`The Business and Economics of Linux and Open Source", speaking on the practical use of open source software in business --- its introduction, integration, and value.
