I'm trying out FreeBSD 5.0 with Bochs 2.0.2 on a FreeBSD 4.7-STABLE
system. I have downloaded the iso file for 5.0, but I'm unable to boot
from it. Bochs says this upon exit:
Bochs is exiting with the following message:
[CPU ] exception(): 3rd (13) exception with no resolution
I then downloaded the boot.flp file and booted from that file. A new
problem popped up when sysinstall wanted to mount the cdrom drive on
/dist after newfs'ing the file systems. Sysinstall says this: «Error
mounting /dev/acd0 on /dist: Operation not supported by device (19)»
I'm using these lines in my .bocshrc for the simulated cdrom drive:
ata1: enabled=1,ioaddr1=0x170,ioaddr2=0x370,irq=15
ata1-master: type=cdrom,path=/var/tmp/5.0-RELEASE-i386-disc1.iso
Has anybody else had success with FreeBSD 5.0 and Bochs 2.0.2?
The log file from Bochs is attached if it's of interest. Bochs was
just recently installed using ports with the following command line:
make WITH_BOCHS_DEBUGGER=yes WITH_BOCHS_X86_DEBUGGER=yes \
WITH_BOCHS_NE2000=yes WITH_BOCHS_SOUND=yes all install package
