Hello here, I'm trying to build the french port of openoffice on 5.0-Release, and I would like if I could be on any help regarding your project? For information about encountered problems, you'll find below some exchange with Martin Blapp. Regards, Nicolas Gorguès mailto:nic@free.fr --- Sujet: Re: fr-openoffice-1.0.2 on FreeBSD 5.0-Release De : Nicolas Gorguès <nic@free.fr> (Holis) À : Martin Blapp <mb@imp.ch> Date : Sun, 9 Feb 2003 09:42:25 +0100 Upgrading to 5.X... Is that the branch Current? (new to BSD, as I said...) I would prefer to avoid upgrading to current, if possible, but I suppose I could if strongly required fort that port, which I need (mandatory to achieve the migration of my working environment from an ugly WIndowsXP to FreeBSD...) Anyway, I guess it would be nicer for community to get this port working on Release...? I run make without any argument, prefering to keep the defaults on everything. Building has properly achieved, but the "make install" just starts with "Intitializing installation program......", seems to copy binary installation files to /usr/local/OpenOffice.org1.0, and then stops here without completing the port installation process (don't return to prompt, but just stays uncompleted. ps -aux reports no activity). I did'nt found the problem mentionned on the Internet. Should I force the port registration, and then goes on with install-user? (I tried it, but the installation program complains about a missing "setup.ins". I guess I could use the one located in /usr/ports/french/openoffice/work/oo_1.0.2_src/instsetoo/unxfbsd.pro/33/normal/setup.ins. Anyway, the main Makefile contains post-installation operations that I would'nt like to bypass. What's your opinion about it? Another question: I saw that openoffice required the build of some version of mozilla that is older than the one I freshly built from port (1.2.1): will some shared library of mozilla 1.2.1 be overwritten by the openoffice installation? If this was the case, would it be safe to make reinstall mozilla 1.2.1 to restore the latests libs without compromizing openoffice? By the way, since the building of that port required a lots of disk space, dependences and patience, I wondered if I should made my build available as a package for some other french users? (I'm relatively new to FreeBSD, and I do not know exactly if this could be a good idea, but I'm suggesting it just in case... What do you think?) Please do not hesitate to ask for any further information. And last but not least, thanks a lot for your work on that huge port!
