Under freebsd 6.1 on a pentium 4 with 256 MB I compiled and installed a postgresql (now 8.0.8) server which has been running wonderfully. I tailored the conf files to tune the server with my hardware according to the many suggestions I read in the net which are OS-independent that is that apply to any *nix (or better linux-centric). Now I would like to know if for a postgresql server there are settings more ** freebsd specif ic ** to improve performance. Ciao Vittorio.
