Hello!

If it helps I tried the HDA driver with Daniel Eischen's
patch from 'http://people.freebsd.org/~deischen/hdac.tgz',
and it works on my laptop. I cannot change the volume in
XMMS, but in mplayer I can. 

pciscan -lv:

I hope this will be in CVS soon ;-)
