Hello,
I am about to buy a mITX board to build a SOHO, ZFS-based NAS (RAID-Z). My board of choice is the Intel DG45FC [1], mainly because it has 4 SATA ports and Intel gigabit NIC.
My only concern is the ICH10R SATA RAID controller. I've read that ZFS likes full access to the disks, and that built-in RAID systems (even if disabled) may lead to poor performances or, worst, errors.
This said, my questions are:
1) does anyone have any experience with this board (or at least wit the ICH10R SATA controller) and ZFS? If not, based on the current status of the FreeBSD kernel, should I expect issues?
2) do you have experiences with other mITX boards that are known to work well in terms of ZFS?
Thanks in advance. Cheerio,
-Fede
