If you have the time, you could probably make quite a bit of impact by runn=
ing
Wine's unit tests and reporting FreeBSD-specific failures upstream. Afaik,
nobody runs those tests [on FreeBSD] even on a semi-regular basis.

No, winegcc is just a wrapper.
