You have a BMC serial port hooked up already, correct? (not to be confused with the host serial port.)

Here are the procedures to fix OpenBMC after mishaps.

If those don't work, I would inspect the board carefully for damage. As long as there isn't physical damage, there is always the option of reflashing the BMC.
