You were right, partially. I tested using my disaster recover USB disk (with
MBR), which contains a fully installed FreeBSD 15-CURRENT on UFS2, with a Z=
FS
pool containing backups for use in case something goes horribly wrong. It
booted with loader_4th. It did not boot with loader_simp, having the same
problem as loader_lua.
