The following reply was made to PR kern/116701; it has been noted by GNATS. From: linimon@lonesome.com (Mark Linimon) To: bug-followup@FreeBSD.org Cc: Subject: Re: kern/116701: [atapicam] atapicam hangs initializing SATA DVDRs on sil3112a Date: Tue, 15 Jan 2008 11:46:43 -0600 ----- Forwarded message from milojah <milojah@gmail.com> ----- Yes, but I got the silimage model number wrong. It's 3512a. If I stress the controller (dd if=/dev/acd1 of=/dev/null bs=512k) the machine will hang before completion with the GENERIC kernel. When I searched for 3512 I found an existing open bug for hangs, so I assume it's a bad card. I just ordered 2 more SATA controllers, a VIA chipset and a jr-something. I am just trying to use some SATA DVD-Rs. If you like, I can send you the silimage card, so you can test. Thanks ----- End forwarded message -----
